In 2016 Andy was awarded the Health & Safety Award at the Guernsey Construction Awards, organised by Guernsey Occupational Safety & Health Association (GOSHA), for maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety within the industry.
Andy has been instrumental in changing the Health & Safety culture on the client’s premises. This has been achieved by holding series of workshop with the relevant stakeholders and sharing his findings. Then over a series of months, putting together an action plan how to engage the contractors, sharing of information and advance notification of works to enable all the construction projects to be more joined up. This has also helped to raise the bar and overall standard within the site – contractors are sharing best practise, unique discoveries, and reports to be better informed about their site and the wider estate.
I’ve personally attended couple of training sessions Andy has delivered on various construction project to other trades and disciplines. These presentations are well researched using numerous images and pictures – which the audience felt was more effective in understanding the issue. These presentations also have Andy’s personal anecdotal experience, helps the issue to feel more real, relevant and relatable.
Andy also regularly shares publication with the wider team and provides his professional narrative on the matter being shared to help us better understand the issue.
