Double Cab Pick Up

Historically HMRC was happy to treat double cab pick-ups, with a ‘payload’ of one tonne or more, as vans.  Following on from the Autumn Budget 2024, from 1 April 2025 double Cab Pick-Ups will be treated as cars for the purposes of capital allowances and benefits in kind.   Double Cab Pick-Ups purchased before 1 April 2025, will continue to be able to use the previous treatment until the earlier of the disposal, lease expiry or 5 April 2029.

The VAT treatment for vehicles with a payload of one tonne or more, will remain unchanged.
